The report on the census of commercial premises aims to describe the most characteristic aspects of ground floor economic activities in the city of Barcelona, providing evidence and comparative indicators based on the datafication of commercial activity. The census is carried out periodically to reveal and interpret the forms of commercial activity, to detect trends and support the articulation of policies to promote economic development. This report goes hand in hand with the creation of the Barcelona Commercial Observatory (which was designed in parallel) as a space promoted by the local administration to compile quantitative knowledge on this aspect of the city.
