Big Time is an open-access online platform for sharing the architectural heritage of Barcelona. It’s an interactive map that, for the first time since 2014, offers an overarching view of the city’s history and makes summarized information about its heritage rapidly available to citizens, professionals and tourists.
The document offers a tour of 2,000 years of history, 70,000 plots and more than 3,000 protected monuments by aggregating data from various sources (heritage catalogue, land register, archeological maps). While this data was available, it was difficult for professionals and citizens to consult and manipulate. In this regard, the issue of accessing and properly communicating heritage data is not trivial.
The project also explores new formats for interaction between citizens and heritage through GPS technology (mobile app).
