Tabacalera’s Cultural Ecosystem

This study is the first stage in the much-needed process of tracing the impact of Tabacalera in its immediate vicinity. Tabacalera is an art promotion center that attracts visitors to Madrid’s Lavapiés district, as well as the driving force behind many activities that have an impact on the area. From this perspective, we described the most significant demographic and economic transformations that have taken place in recent years in the ecosystem that has grown around the visual arts. The ultimate goal, however, is to encourage discussion on how to measure the urban impacts of culture.
